The Allen Barn Wedding
Some of my very favorite weddings happen close to home — and The Allen Barn, set in the countryside of Ranger just outside Calhoun, is right in the heart of where I live and shoot.
There’s a special kind of warmth to a barn wedding in North Georgia. The Allen Barn has it in full — weathered wood, open country air, and that unhurried, welcoming feeling that makes everyone settle in and stay a while.
Being just minutes from Calhoun, it’s an easy, familiar drive for guests coming from anywhere across Gordon County and the surrounding towns.
Why The Allen Barn is a joy to photograph
A barn in the country gives you everything a photographer hopes for — rich wooden textures up close, open fields for portraits, and that gorgeous low light that pours across the land as the day winds down.
And because the setting feels so relaxed and homey, couples stay present and at ease, which is always where the best photographs come from.

There’s a comfort to celebrating somewhere that feels like home — and it shows in every frame.
“A country barn at golden hour is about as good as it gets. My job is just to be ready for the real moments.”
Planning your wedding at The Allen Barn
If The Allen Barn is on your list, make the most of the open land — plan your portraits for the last hour of light, when the fields turn gold, and leave a little room to wander. The quiet country corners make for some of the most beautiful, timeless photos.
